Taking iPhones to schools

Taking iPhones to schools
Client: Academia

Their Brief

Following the award of a Becta/OGC framework agreement to supply specialist academic software and hardware to education institutions in Britain, Academia charged TopLine with promoting the project in the media and driving traffic to the site as part of Academia's bid to generate further leads from London schools.

What We Did

Drawing on our extensive education PR experience, TopLine began media relations activities to showcase Academia, the premier supplier under the Framework Agreement, ahead of the BETT (British Educational Training and Technology) show.

TopLine started with a single education PR case study constructed around a pilot Academia was running with Brentford City Learning Council to supply iPhones to 35 students at Gumley House Convent School. The trial was designed to produce information on how iPhones can facilitate learning in pupils from Year 7 to Year 13, and was based on two years’ of research carried out by education expert Professor Michael Gibson.

The education PR campaign generated over 40 pieces of press coverage, including hits in national and trade publications, which helped drive traffic both to the stall and to Academia's website.

What They Said

We were hugely impressed by the quality and quantity of coverage TopLine generated for Academia as a result of the Gumley House project, particularly given the quick turn-around. Our profile as a leading provider of education ICT is significantly higher as a result, and this was seen in the increased footfall to our stand at BETT.

The diversity of the coverage generated was also excellent, and a direct result of TopLine's canny positioning of the project from several different angles. Not only did we achieve national broadsheet coverage, but we were also delighted to be featured across such a broad spectrum of education and technology publications.
